Outsourcing

What Should a Small Business Outsource First?

Use recurring friction, not a generic task list, to find the right first handoff.

The best first task to outsource is rarely the most complicated task. It is usually a repeatable piece of work that consumes attention, has a clear definition of done, and does not need the business owner to approve every small step.

Look for work that repeats and interrupts

Track what pulled you out of focused work for a week. Calendar coordination, copying product details, updating a CRM, and answering common questions often show up because they recur and interrupt—not because each one is difficult on its own.

Write down the outcome before choosing a provider

Describe the inputs, the expected result, the tools involved, and the cases that should be escalated. A one-page checklist is often enough to begin. Review the first few handoffs together, then refine the process before expanding the scope.
